CO₂ Forward 2025 marked a major milestone for durable carbon removal in India and the Global South. Hosted in New Delhi by the Carbon Removal India Alliance, and supported by the Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation, the summit brought together policymakers, scientists, civil society, investors, and industry leaders from India and 5 other countries , signalling strong momentum and international interest in India’s CDR leadership.


Across sessions, participants converged on a clear message: durable carbon removal must be built with integrity, anchored in strong MRV, and designed to deliver development and climate co-benefits. Discussions spanned national policy pathways, market trust, capital mobilisation, corporate demand signals, and scalable technologies including biochar, enhanced rock weathering, and marine CDR.


This takeaway note captures the key insights and priorities that emerged from a highly successful convening and outlines what it will take for India to play a leading role in shaping the global CDR ecosystem.
